Epic 'Esther' Valencia resident's musical in 7th production
PITTSBURGH — “Esther, the Musical” by Valencia resident Jeannie Allen is going on stage in its seventh production Saturday and Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 320 Sixth Ave.
“Esther” will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1,000-seat church.
The play reflects the Old Testament story of one woman who was inspired by God and changed the course of history.
The Broadway-type musical features 18 original songs, all written by Allen, in different styles including operatic, pop, jazz, Jamaican, Hebrew and ballads.
Allen is a professional pianist, vocalist and teacher with more than 100 original songs and four albums to her credit.
“Esther the Musical” had its first showing in March 2007 at Mars Alliance Church.
