Dale S. Campbell
Dale S. Campbell, 87, of Washington Street, Petrolia, Fairview Borough, died unexpectedly early Tuesday afternoon at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Campbell was born in Fairview Township on June 1, 1925. He was the son of William C. and Gladys M. Rankin Campbell.
He was a 1943 graduate of Fairview Township- Karns City High School.
Dale is survived by his wife, Lois M. Vensel Campbell, who he married in Kaylor on Sept. 20, 1958.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Army and a recipient of the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars, having served in World War II in England, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany.
He retired as a laboratory foreman in 1989 from Witco Chemical following 45 years of service.
Dale and his wife were longtime members of the St. Peter's Reformed Church in Fairview, and he was currently a member of the Fairview United Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the VFW in Chicora and the American Legion in Bradys Bend.
He enjoyed watching sports, coaching Little League, attending his granddaughters' basketball games, playing cards, hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his friends and family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William C. “Bill” Campbell and his wife, Melissa, of Chicora; three granddaughters, Kayla Andreassi and her husband, Nick, of East Brady, Ashley Campbell, a student at Point Park University, Pittsburgh and Chelsea Campbell, a student at Slippery Rock University; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Nelda Whitmer, Allene Bell and Audrey Sheakley.
CAMPBELL — Friends of Dale S. Campbell, who died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Barger, a longtime family friend and pastor of Scrubgrass Stone Church, officiating.Interment with military honors accorded by the American Legion Posts in Chicora and Bradys Bend and the VFW Post in Chicora will follow in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.Memorial contributions in Mr. Campbell's memory may be made to the Fairview United Presbyterian Church, P.O.
