James Paul Henschel

James Paul Henschel, 70, of Cabot died suddenly after a brief illness with family at his side on Friday.

Born June 6, 1942, in Natrona Heights, he was the son of the late Vincent and Dorothy (Hunter) Henschel.

Mr. Henschel was a 1960 graduate of Har-Brack High School, Natrona Heights, and a graduate of Pittsburgh Art Institute. He served in the Army reserve from 1962 to 1968.

After a 42-year career, Jim retired from the H.J. Heinz Co. in Pittsburgh where he was the manager of label and packaging design. He was always proud and worked diligently in his profession.

Jim was a perfectionist when working on various art projects. During his retirement he enjoyed woodworking, making various furniture pieces, graphic design projects and spending time with family. He was an avid fan of Pittsburgh sports teams and enjoyed watching football, hockey and baseball. He attended more than 34 Super Bowl games with his brother, Tom.

Mr. Henschel was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot.

Survivors include his longtime girlfriend, Lynn Gasbarre of Bethel Park; two brothers and three sisters, Thomas (Regina) Henschel, David (Sandra) Henschel of Cabot, Janet (Barry) Ewing of Butler, Dee Dee (Jack) Walker of Natrona Heights and Janee (Gary) Wislie of Natrona Heights. Also surviving are six nephews; four nieces; two great-nephews; two great-nieces; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

HENSCHEL — Friends of James Paul Henschel, who passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688, where a blessing service will be held at noon Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights.
