Rhonna Steetle

Rhonna J. Steetle, 75, of Butler died Wednesday evening at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born in Butler on Dec. 20, 1936, and was a daughter of the late Paul Vane Phipps and Nellie Irene Heckard Phipps.

Rhonna was retired from Butler Memorial Hospital, where she worked for 11 years as a unit clerk.

A member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, she had formerly been a bowler in the Coins Bowling League. She loved her pet Yorkies and vacationing in Florida and at the cabin in Canada, where she especially enjoyed watching the Canadian Loons, their habits and sounds. She liked to crochet and to grow and arrange flowers.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, John W. Steetle. They were married on July 7, 1956. Also surviving are two daughters, Debra Burns and her husband, Jeffery, and Barbara J. Steetle, all of Butler; and one brother, Earl L. Phipps of Prospect.

She was preceded in death by her stepgrandson, Jason Burns in 2001; four sisters; and one brother.

STEETLE — Friends of Rhonna J. Steetle, who died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. The St. Paul's Catholic Women will recite the Rosary at 9:40 a.m. Monday at the church.Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.The family suggests that memorial donations could be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
