Daniel L. Harbison
Daniel L. Harbison, 63, of Sarver passed away Friday at the Saxony Health Center in the company of his loving wife and daughter.
Dan was a quiet man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was born March 17, 1949, in Natrona Heights to Lawrence E. “Sonny” Harbison and Hazel Brewer Harbison.
Dan was a 1967 graduate of Freeport High School, and he then served in the U.S. Navy for six years. He served as a petty officer aboard the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War as an electronic technician.
He had worked at Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge for 30 years, most of which was spent as a conductor on the railroad in the T and Y department.
He attended the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sarver, where he helped with church dinners. He loved to fish and hunt, earning him the nickname “Boone” when he was young. He enjoyed walking the trails in the Sarver area. He was a member of the VFW in Natrona Heights, and he was a former member of the Saxonburg Sportsmen's Club.
Surviving are his wife, Cynthia McCool Harbison of Sarver, who he married June 30, 2008; his daughter, Jennifer Harbison of Oshkosh, Wis.; stepson, Patrick (Kaitlyn) McIntyre of Butler; stepdaughter, Amanda McIntyre of Sarver; his brother, James (Collette) Harbison of Beaufort, S.C.; his sister, Janet (William) Frye of Sarver; one granddaughter, Ryann Court; one grandson, Cole Joyce; and his dog, Archie.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister, Joann.
HARBISON — Friends of Daniel L. Harbison, who died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Deborah Huffmyer officiating.
