Jennie Guenther
Jennie Guenther, 88, formerly of Pine Township, Grove City, passed away at the Grove City Medical Center at 8:46 p.m. Friday after a one-week illness.
She was born in Brent, Springfield Township, Mercer County, on Nov. 26,1923, to John B. Mathieson and Elizabeth Snyder Mathieson.
She married Harry Guenther on July 12, 1969, and he died Feb. 16, 2010.
She was a homemaker, and she was a surgical nurse in the operating room of the former Bashline Hospital in downtown Grove City and Oakhill.
She was a Baptist. Jennie enjoyed quilting and traveling with her husband, Harry, visiting 48 states together.
Surviving are three children, Shirley Fry of Dade City, Fla., Robert McCutcheon and his wife, Linda, of Grove City and Gary McCutcheon of Dade City; three grandchildren, Marni DePaoli and her husband, Anthony, of Grove City, Wade McCutcheon and his wife, Heather, of Katy, Texas, and Mandi Gilliland and her husband, Edwin, of Slippery Rock; nine great-grandchildren, Mackenzie McCutcheon and his wife, Amanda, Marissa Fleeger, Anthony DePaoli, Kylie, Claire, Ashton and Chase McCutcheon and Madison and Declan Gilliland.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her first husband, John Clair McCutcheon; her second husband, Harry Guenther; three sisters, Betty Bowers, Florence Witherall and Mildred McNulty; and her brothers, Charles, Clarence, William, James, Hubert “Nick” and John Mathieson.
GUENTHER — Funeral services for Jennie Guenther, who died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, will be at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Paul Goodman, associate pastor of the Grove City Alliance Church, officiating. Visitation hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be in North Liberty Cemetery, Liberty Township, Mercer County.
