Terry Shick

Terry L. Shick, 52, of Butler passed away peacefully Tuesday surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home.

Born Dec. 8, 1959, in Kittanning, he was the beloved son of Helen (Stewart) Shick of New Bethlehem and the late Robert Dale Shick.

From an early age, Terry worked at his family's clothing store, Robert's Men's Shop, in New Bethlehem. In 1984 he earned a Bachelor of Science in communications from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. After working in Maryland for several years for Allstate, Terry and his wife, Jean, lived in Alice Springs, Australia, where he sold advertising for the local newspaper. In Pittsburgh, Terry had more than 19 years as a technical specialist at Travelers Insurance.

When Terry wasn't working, he spent every moment possible with his cherished family. He was extremely involved with his children's activities. He served as a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed attending their concerts, band performances and dance recitals.

Terry was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hiking, kayaking, canoeing and biking with his family. He loved the many hunting trips made to his father-in-law's camp in Clarion County with his son, father-in-law, uncles and cousins. He also spent a great deal of time at the family cottage in Franklin. Above all, he was a doting husband, a devoted father and tireless provider who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

In addition to his mother, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his adoring wife of 25 years, Jean M. (Fiscus) Shick, who he married on April 11, 1987; his two loving children, Patrick and Laurena Shick; his three sisters, Peggy Postlewait and her husband, John, of Mayport, Pa., Bobbie Boyer and her husband, Cliff, of Butler and Vivian Dailey of Texas; his parents-in-law, Albert and Marie Fiscus of Franklin; his brother-in-law, Andrew Fiscus and his partner, Tony Moyer, of Easton, Pa.; his sister-in-law, Teresa Mooradian and her husband, Eric, of Erie; his seven nephews, Steven and Gavin Mooradian, Curt and Brady Slagle, Bryan Postlewait, Kevin Jacklin and Matt Dailey; a niece, Beth Dailey; and his loving family dog, Lexi.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lynda Slagle.

SHICK — Terry L. Shick passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012. Terry’s family will welcome friends and family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A blessing service will be celebrated at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev.
