Lorraine Collins

Lorraine Journigan Collins, 80, of Butler, formerly of North Carolina and Connecticut, died Wednesday evening at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born June 10, 1932, in Wake County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Horace and Liza (Underwood) Journigan.

Lorraine lived most of her life, 67 years, in North Carolina, followed by nine years in Connecticut, before finally moving to Butler in 2008. While living in Butler, she attended First United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and was very active in the Doorstep program at the Butler Library.

Surviving are her three children, Lori C. (Jim) Retter of Butler, Pam. C. (Keith) Travis of Canton, Ga., and Richard D. (Diane) Cockman of Graham, N.C.; four grandchildren, Marie and Samuel Travis and Matthew and Christopher Cockman; one great-grandson, Brody Robert Cockman; and two brothers, S.J. Journigan and Clyde Journigan, both of Raleigh, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Horace, Milton and Bruce Journigan.

COLLINS — There will not be a visitation for Lorraine Journigan Collins, who died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012. Private services will be held for her family.Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, is handling the arrangements.Her family requests that donations be made to Butler Area Library, 218 N.
