David Alan Charnock
David Alan Charnock, 62, of Cranberry Township entered into heaven Monday after fighting a courageous two year battle with brain cancer.
He was born Dec. 6, 1949, in Pittsburgh to the late Wilbert and Ruth (Helmstetter) Charnock.
He was the beloved husband of 41 years to Catherine (Hurley) Charnock; loving father of Kimberly (Jason) Pitell, Brian (Karen) Charnock, Christine (Charles) Sevin, Gregory Charnock and Sarah Charnock; proud PapPap of Denali Pitell, Mya and Ellie Charnock, and Allison and Taylor Sevin; brother of Diane (Bob) Snyder; brother-in-law of Sister Frances Hurley CSJ, Peggy and Jerry Hannan, Pat and Ron Jurann, John and Denise Hurley, Betty and Larry Fabbroni, Joe and Roberta Hurley, Rita and Bob Bates, Rose and Tom Sippel, Bob and Cindy Hurley, Lori Hurley and Alan Schlossberg, Sister Dorothy Pashuta CSJ; and loved by many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Dave was a loving and caring husband and father who always made family his first priority.
He held several significant positions in many organizations, including the North Hills Jaycees as president, the Cranberry Community Chest as president and the Vincentian Home as a board member.
He was a very devout Catholic and was a member of St. Ferdinand parish. He was a Eucharistic minister, a marriage prep teacher, a volunteer at festivals, a member of St. Vincent DePaul society, a former president of the Parish Council and a current member of the Pastoral Council.
Dave was a well educated and incredibly smart man. He earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana University and an MBA from Robert Morris.
He previously worked at Rothman Gordon and recently retired as the chief operating officer at Alpern Rosenthal.
CHARNOCK — Friends and family of David Alan Charnock, 62, who died Monday, Oct. 29, will be received Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township. A mass of Christian burial will be at St. Ferdinand Church at 10 a.m. Friday.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Ferdinand’s Building fund and to St. Ferdinand’s Saint Vincent DePaul Society.
