Thomas Elmer Grubbs

Thomas Elmer Grubbs, 65, of Chicora passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 11, 1947, in Avalon, Pa., the son of the late Elmer and Julia (Cannady) Grubbs.

Thomas was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War, and was a member of the National Guard. He was a member of the VFW in Parker and the American Legion in Lyndora. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and going to the beach. He had worked at PPG Industries.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Grubbs, who he married June 26, 1982; and two sons, Thomas and Wade Grubbs, both at home.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Donald Persinger and a sister, Mary Poth.

GRUBBS — Friends of Thomas Elmer Grubbs, who passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, will be received at Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. until the time of the service at 8 p.m. Tuesday.Military honors will be given at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home by VFW 249 and American Legion 778.For more information, go to www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
