David D. Beer

David D. Beer, 68, of Freeport passed away peacefully Sunday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Dave was born in Freeport on April 4, 1944. He was the son of the late Madeline (Howard) and Samuel Beer.

Dave served in the U.S. Army with Company B, 69th Engineering Battalion, during the Vietnam War.

He was employed as a plant manager for the Volkswagen Westmoreland Assembly Plant in New Stanton. Dave had also worked for the New Kensington School District as head of building and grounds, and he worked for Copper's Research in Verona.

Dave and his wife enjoyed visiting Atlantic City and Las Vegas to enjoy the casinos. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time in the mountains and watching sports. He was a life member and a past post commander at the Freeport VFW Post 6648 and a member of the Armstrong Lodge 239 in Freeport.

He is survived by his wife, Tynce A. (Bouch) Beer; daughter, Amy and Bryan VanTine of Freeport; son, Greg and Christy Beer Sr. of Center Township; sister, Karen Brown, of Homer City; brother, Samuel Beer Jr. of Freeport; stepson, James and Caroline Markle Sr. of Vandergrift; grandchildren, Carly and Cori VanTine, Courtney Pfenningwerth and Samantha, Greg Jr. and Brendan Beer; and stepgrandchildren, Brandi and Tiffany Criswell, James Markle Jr. and Nicole Markle.

He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Donna Criswell; sister, Garnet Freehling; and two brothers, George and Paul Beer.

BEER — Family and friends of David D. Beer, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. James A. Higgins of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Freeport officiating. Burial will be in the Freeport Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
