HARRISBURG — North Allegheny quarterback Mack Leftwich has been named Pennsylvania Class AAAA Player pf the Year by the state’s sports writers.

Leftwich, headed to Texas-El Paso, threw for 3,300 yards, 45 touchdowns and only four interceptions in leading the Tigers to the state championship. He was 30-1 as a starting quarterback for NA.

Five other North Allegheny gridders — receiver Gregg Garrity, tight end Zach Lyon, offensive lineman Pat Kugler, defensive lineman Jeremy Gonzales and defensive back Brendan Coniker — also made the all-state team.

Jets may dump Sanchez, TebowFLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Mark Sanchez is no longer the face of the New York Jets. He could soon be a former member of the team.And Tim Tebow might beat him out the door.A person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press that the Jets will consider all of their options regarding the two quarterbacks during the offseason. That means both Sanchez and Tebow are in limbo and trades cannot be ruled out.The person, who requested anonymity because the team’s personnel plans are private, told the AP that the Jets have not made any determinations involving Sanchez or Tebow.

Colts coach Pagano cleared to resumeINDIANAPOLIS — Colts head coach Chuck Pagano can resume coaching whenever he’s ready.Dr. Larry Cripe told The Associated Press that Pagano had been cleared to return and that it was up to the coach and the Colts to determine when that will happen and how much Pagano will do. Pagano’s physician is not imposing any restrictions, either.Pagano is expected to return to the team complex as soon as Monday.
