Robert 'Spider' G. Zaccari Sr.
Robert “Spider” G. Zaccari Sr., 83, formerly of New Street, Franklin, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday at Sugarcreek Station.
Born Jan. 27, 1929, in Butler, Robert was the son of the late Michael and Maria (Tartaglio) Zaccari.
He was married to Rose Marie Cavalero, who survives.
Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era.
Robert worked for Armco Steel. After retirement, he learned the shoe repair trade from his brothers who operated Z&R Shoe Repair in Butler. He was employed at the Polk Center for 30 years, for 20 years as an orthopedic shoe repair man and for 10 years as a resident service aide. He also had his own shoe repair shop for many years.
He enjoyed riding his bike with his wife and walking around town holding his wife's hand.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by sons, Robert G. Zaccari Jr. of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Anthony Zaccari and his wife, Debbie, of Franklin; and his daughter, Teresa L. Stiller and her husband, Robert, of Meadville.
He also is survived by his grandchildren, Angela Rankin and her husband, Jeremy, of Franklin, Alicia and Ashley Zaccari of Franklin, attending Clarion University, Joseph Stiller and his wife, Michele, of Cheswick, Jonathan Stiller of Pittsburgh and Jennilyn Stiller of Meadville, attending Slippery Rock University; and his great-grandchildren, Natalie Rankin, Neveah Rankin and Lincoln Stiller.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Julius Zaccari, Leo Zaccari and Ernie Zaccari; and his sisters, Antonietta Rapone, Nava Barry and Dora Sopel.
ZACCARI — Visitation and funeral services for Robert “Spider” G. Zaccari Sr., who died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, will be private and at the convenience of the family.
