2:58 p.m. Wednesday — Cars driven by Janet M. Hubstenberger, 49, Worthington, Armstrong County, and Claude D. Clark Jr., 18, of Butler collided at Cleveland Street and Sixth Avenue.11:21 a.m. Wednesday — An unidentified gold-colored sport utility vehicle struck the rear bumper of a UPS truck driven by a 33-year-old Butler man that was stopped on Cleveland Street. The unknown driver of the SUV did not stop after the crash.7:25 a.m. Wednesday — A black BMX bicycle was found in the 400 block of Olive Street. The owner can claim the bike, which had no markings on it, by calling police at 724-287-7743.Wednesday — An unidentified vehicle struck a car parked on West Brush Street near South Washington Street. The owner of the car, a Franklin Township woman, was at work at the time of the hit-and-run accident.
3:38 p.m. Wednesday — An unknown burglar driving a red Chevrolet Chevette broke into an apartment on Ravenhurst Lane and stole an undisclosed amount of currency.10:01 a.m. Wednesday — No one was injured in a three-vehicle pileup on Route 422 east that police blamed on the ice-covered road. The accident happened when Ken Wolfe, 49, of West Sunbury lost control of his box truck and struck a pickup truck.Moments before the wreck, the pickup driven by Kevin Neff, 53, of Chicora had slid to a stop and partially blocked one of the lanes. After the first collision, a second came when Clifford Fennell, 66, of Ford City, Armstrong County, applied the brakes of his tractor-trailer and skidded out of control and into the pickup.10 a.m. Wednesday — A vehicle driven by Donald Jackson, 73, of Karns City slid out of control on icy East Brady Street and hit and sheared off a utility pole. The pole fell onto the road.A short time later, Cheri Conoran, 39, of Bruin drove upon the same crash scene and applied her brakes to avoid the pole but ended sliding off the road and into an embankment. The car overturned.Butler firefighters were called and helped Conoran and her passenger, an unidentified child, out of the car. Both were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.The road was ultimately closed until the pole was removed.
Thursday — An unknown vandal between 1:30 and 2:40 p.m. damaged a mailbox at a home in the 500 block of Saxonburg Boulevard in Clinton Township.10:40 a.m. Wednesday — Rebecca S. Devries, 48, of Mars was hurt when she lost control of her car on ice-covered Valencia Road and struck a tree in Forward Township. Devries, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.9:59 a.m. Wednesday — Sudden icy road conditions were blamed for an accident that happened when a sport utility vehicle driven by Joyce A. Clarke, 77, of Grove City struck a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township.9:50 a.m. Wednesday — David L. Morrow, 45, of Butler was hurt when the pickup truck he was driving struck an embankment on I-79 in Lancaster Township. Morrow, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry with moderate injuries.
11:16 a.m. Wednesday — Nicholas A. Dorcy, 27, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of drugged driving after his pickup truck, spun into a guardrail and rolled onto its side on ice-covered Route 28 just one-half mile south of exit 16 in Harrison Township, Allegheny County.4:30 p.m. Tuesday — A pickup driven by Scott E. John, 31, of Pittsburgh struck a deer on Route 28 just south of Route 356 in Buffalo Township, Butler County.10:27 a.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Mark Crawford, no age given, of Worthington struck the back of a snow plow on Route 422 in East Franklin Township. Crawford was cited for driving at an unsafe speed. Jack Freeman, no age given, of Kittanning was driving the plow.10:07 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Jonathan A. Berteotti, 19, of West Sunbury struck a vehicle parked on Route 66 at Purple's Saloon in Bethel Township. Berteotti was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
