Robert D. Lepley
Robert D. Lepley, 88, of West Sunbury Road, Butler died at 6:30 a.m. Friday at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 9, 1924, in Butler, to the late William A. Lepley and Helen Douthet Lepley.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Philippines with the 11th Airborne Divison 187 “Regiment G. Company” and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star after the battles of Leyte and Luzon.
He was a member of the North Main Street Church of God, the VFW Butler Chapter 249 and the Disabled American Veterans. He retired from the Butler Post Office after 32 years of service.
Mr. Lepley is survived by his wife, Ruth Young Lepley, who he married Aug. 30, 1958; one son, Robert L. Lepley and his wife, Julie, of Chicago; one daughter, Elaine Fleeger and her husband, John, of Woodward, Iowa; three grandchildren, Rob Fleeger, Erin Bruce and Thomas Lepley; his sister-in-law, Janet Lepley; a niece, Cynthia Flannagan and her husband, Tim; a nephew David Lepley; a great- nephew, Tyler Flannagan; and a great-great-nephew, Jackson Flannagan.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, William Lepley.
LEPLEY — Friends of Robert D. Lepley, who died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, will be received at the North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., Butler, from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brandon Lenhart and the Rev.
