ZELIENOPLE — Police believe a disagreement over money was enough for one man to attack another one with a baseball bat Sunday morning.

Timothy Tubridy, 35, of Cranberry Township allegedly struck Jonathan Zeigler in the head, ribs and arm with the aluminum ball bat.

The attack left Zeigler with lumps and bruises on his head and body, and breathing difficulties from the blows to his ribs; however, he did not need hospital treatment.

Police that afternoon arrested Tubridy on felony assault and other charges. The alleged altercation took place at Zeigler’s home in the 300 block of South Oliver Street.

Tubridy, who is free on $5,000 bail, is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.

The defendant about 7 a.m. drove to the alleged victim’s home where the two men argued over money, police said.

Tubridy accused Zeigler of stealing money from him, according to court documents.

During the argument, Tubridy reached into his car and pulled out a baseball bat, police said. He struck Zeigler with it several times.

Zeigler’s father, who was home in bed at the time, heard the commotion, got up, looked out the window and saw the suspect attacking his son with the bat, documents said.

The elder Zeigler rushed to get dressed but by the time he got outside, Tubridy had driven away. Harmony EMS paramedics treated the younger Zeigler for injuries.

A preliminary hearing is set Feb. 5 at the office of District Judge Wayne Seibel in Evans City.
