F. Yvonne 'Bonnie' Deener McCormick
F. Yvonne “Bonnie” Deener McCormick passed away Sunday at home in North Oaks, Minn., surrounded by family.
She was born April 28, 1923, in Washington County, Md. When very young, she and her family moved to Pittsburgh, then years later moved to Zelienople.
She met the love of her life while attending Geneva College and was married in Beaver Falls on May 1, 1944. For many years she taught elementary school in the Avalon School District, Allegheny County. She and her husband spent a glorious retirement in both Parker and Green Valley, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell M. and Josephine R. (Main) Deener; her daughter, Sydney J.; and her brothers, David R. and J. Leonard Deener.
Surviving are her loving husband of nearly 69 years, Fred B. McCormick Sr.; sons, Fred B. Jr. (Mitzi) and Charles L. (Barbara); grandchildren, Kayleigh M., Niall F. and Kyle C. McCormick and Nathan R.M. Crawford (Daniela); sisters-in-law, Beverly Bixler and Texana Deener; 10 nieces; one nephew; and many dear friends and relatives.
MCCORMICK — Friends of F. Yvonne “Bonnie” Deener McCormick, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, 529 California Ave., Avalon, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday.The family suggests memorial contributions to Geneva College, I/A Department, 3200 College Ave., Beaver Falls, PA 15010.
