SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock Parks and Recreation will be having its annual winter carnival from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 16 at Slippery Rock Park.
The event will feature a variety of winter activities. Children may bring a sled.

PROSPECT — The Portersville-Prospect Rotary Club will have its annual pancake and sausage breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Prospect Fire Hall on Route 488. The fifth grade elementary band will perform at 10 a.m.All proceeds will benefit the projects of the club that include donations to the Portersville Food Pantry, student scholarships, Portersville Park, turkey roundup and cataract surgeries for the blind in India, to name a few.The price is $6 for adults and $3 for children.
GROVE CITY — The Grove City Medical Center Volunteers are offering the $1,000 Mary Ellen Liggitt Health Care Scholarship to an area student interested in preparing for a career in health care service.Any interested high school senior or graduate student may apply for this scholarship by completing an application form and essay stating his/her goals and reasons for selecting a career in the health care field. A transcript and three reference letters also are required.Interested students who would like an application or have questions about the requirements for scholarship consideration should call Grove City Medical Center’s public relations office at 724-450-7191.Applications must be returned by April 15.
