U.S. Air Force Col. Alexis Mezynski has assumed command of the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base, N.D. Mezynski has served in the military for 19 years.
He is the son of Annette and stepson of Robert Hartman of Butler.
Mezynski graduated in 1989 from Butler High School and received a bachelor’s degree in 1993 from the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. He earned a master’s degree in 1994 from Virginia Tech.

U.S. Marine Corps Pvt. Ian Garia, son of Stephen Garia of Cabot, earned the title of U.S. Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
Garia is a 2010 graduate of Harvest Baptist Academy of Natrona Heights.

U.S. Air Force Reserve Airman Adam Brydon graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Brydon earned distinction as an honor graduate.
He is the son of Denise Brydon of Slippery Rock.
The airman is a 2007 graduate of Slippery Rock High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2011 from La Roche College.

U.S. Air Force Airman John Hunter graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
Hunter is the son of John Hunter of Cranberry Township and Colleen Pesci of Mars.
He is a 2012 graduate of Seneca Valley High School.

U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Pvt. Kyle Guenther graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
Guenther is a 2012 graduate of the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School.
He is the son of Jason and Cheryl Guenther of Prospect.
