Velma P. Long Plaisted

Velma P. Long Plaisted, 91, of Connoquenessing passed away Saturday at St. Johns Specialty Care Center, Mars.

She was born in Callery on Sept. 29, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Otho E. and Lila Kline Long.

Velma was Protestant. She had been a life member of the Mars Rod and Gun Club. She loved her family and would often baby-sit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Plaisted, who she married Feb. 17, 1936, and he died Jan, 12, 1991; one daughter; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; one sister; and one brother.

She is survived by one daughter, Judith (William) Davison of Poulsbo, Wash.; five sons, Gary R. and his wife, Donna, of Harmony, Thomas W. of Slippery Rock, Russell O. and his wife, Dawn, of Connoquenessing, Dennis C. and his wife, Lauren, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Douglas A. and his wife, Peggy, of Harrisville; her grandson, who she raised as her son, Robin (Lindee) Gilliland; one brother, Roy (Sally) Long of Evans City; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

PLAISTED — A memorial service for Velma P. Long Plaisted, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, will be announced later.

Arrangements are handled by the A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 328 W. Main St., Evans City.
