ERIE — Seneca Valley graduate and Penn State-Behrend senior Vinny Rice has been named AMCC Baseball Player of the Week.Rice led the Lions to a perfect 6-0 record for the week, hitting .579 (11 for 19) with seven runs scored and four RBI. He took a 10-game hitting streak into action this week.
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock High School senior heavyweight wrestler Forrest Christmann placed seventh at Flonationals recently at Indiana (Pa.) University.The tourney featured more than 60 nationally-ranked wrestlers and champions from more than 35 states.Christmann defeated West Virginia state champion Isaiah Holyfield and Michigan state champion Ryan Prescott in finishing seventh and earning All-American recognition.
LOCK HAVEN — Slippery Rock University seniors Lexi Arnold and Kyle Toms have been named PSAC Women's and Men's Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.Arnold won the javelin event at the SRU Invitational with an NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 149 feet, 10 inches. The throw is best in the PSAC this season.Toms won the shot put at the SRU Invitational and was second in the hammer throw and discus. His shot put of 53 feet, 8.25 inches is best in the PSAC this year.
FREEPORT — Freeport senior forward Jessica Aulicino is continuing her academic and basketball career at Allegheny College.A two-time all-section player, Aulicino averaged 13.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game last season. She also considered Westminster, Washington & Jefferson and Saint Vincent.
