Margaret L. 'Peg' (McCarthy) Lachendro
Margaret L. “Peg” (McCarthy) Lachendro, 83, of Zelienople, formerly of Butler, passed away Sunday while under the care of the Passavant Retirement Community.
She was born July 1, 1929, in Pittsburgh, and was the daughter of the late Timothy and Josephine (Beitel) McCarthy.
Peg was a proud graduate of Peabody High School in Pittsburgh. She was a member of the St. Gregory Catholic Church in Zelienople and former member of the St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Butler.
She retired in 1952 from the Potter Title & Trust Bank, which is now PNC Bank.
Peg enjoyed volunteering at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Mars, as well as the Southern Butler County Food Bank. She was an avid supporter of Right to Life issues. Above all, she was dedicated to family and spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Ruth Anne Jesionowski and her husband, Leon, of Geneva, Ohio; her four sons, James Richard Lachendro and his wife, Ann, of Scotland, Edward Michael Lachendro and his wife, Joy, of Beaver Dam, Wis., Michael Alan Lachendro and his wife, Cathy, of Sparks, Nev., and Mark Timothy Lachendro and his wife, Jen, of Zelienople; her brother, Jack McCarthy of Pittsburgh; her sister, Mary Kirchner of Bethel Park, Pa.; 16 grandchildren, Aimee Eddins, Emily Lampe, Mirren, Tom and Flynn Lachendro, Christopher and Joe Lachendro, Amanda Negley, Luke and Ben Lachendro, Justin and Ysabella Lachendro, David, Jack, Eric and Kate Lachendro; and her great-granddaughter, Emily Lachendro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, John R. Lachendro, who passed away in July 2006; her son, Stephen Julian Lachendro; two brothers, Timothy and Joseph McCarthy; and a sister, Sister Mary Regina (Anne) McCarthy.
LACHENDRO — The Lachendro family will welcome friends of Margaret L. “Peg” (McCarthy) Lachendro, who passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from noon to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople, PA 16063, with Father Lawrence R. Smith, celebrant. Friends please meet at the church.
