John R. Conklin
John R. Conklin Jr., 91, of Franklin Township passed away at 10:41 a.m. Friday at his home.
He was born Oct. 23, 1921, in Waynesburg, Pa., to the late John R. Conklin Sr. and Bellva Marie (Yost) Conklin.
Mr. Conklin was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was a store manager for the National Supply Co. for 30 years, retiring in July of 1977.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in World War II.
Mr. Conklin wrestled for Waynesburg High School and Waynesburg College.
Mr. Conklin was a member of the William H. Miller Lodge 769 F. & A. M. and the A.A.S.R. (Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite) Valley of New Castle where he was a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all outdoor sports.
Mr. Conklin is survived by four sons, Robert J. Conklin and his wife, Bonnie, of Butler, James C. Conklin and his wife, Denise, of Denver, Colo., William “Doug” Conklin and his wife, Kathy, of Butler and Michael B. Conklin and his wife, Choei, of Butler; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and one sister, Pat Hrutkay of Coal Center, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Perry) Conklin, who he married on June 22, 1942, and who passed away on Nov. 5. 2009, two sisters, and two brothers.
CONKLIN — There will be no public visitation for John R. Conklin Jr., who passed away Friday, March 29, 2013.
