Eleanore Batykefer

Eleanore Irene Batykefer, 76, of Slippery Rock passed away at 12:58 a.m. Thursday in her home.

She was born in Grove City Boro on July 23, 1936, to the late Clair Burton Hefferman and Alice Hazel Emery Hefferman.

She married Merlin “Butch” Anthony Batykefer on Oct. 26, 1996.

She worked in custodian care at Slippery Rock University and retired in 2002. She was member of the Branchton United Methodist Church in Slippery Rock. She is a homemaker and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

She is survived by her husband, Merlin “Butch” Batykefer of Slippery Rock; a daughter, Brenda I. (Rick) Weber of Grove City; a son, Bryan W. McDeavitt of Grove City; two stepsons, Merlin Batykefer Jr. of Slippery Rock and Keith Batykefer of West View, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Evonne Batykefer of Pittsburgh and Laraine (Paul) Kiuchi of Baldwin, Pa.; two sisters, Marian Brandon of Slippery Rock and Susan Haynes of Minneapolis, Minn.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Garret and Samantha Weber and Eleanore McDeavitt; nine step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Manse McDeavitt, and a brother, William Raymond Hefferman.

BATYKEFER — Friends of Eleanore Irene Batykefer, who passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock.A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Lewis, pastor of the Branchton United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at the Slippery Rock Cemetery.
