Elsie Burr

Elsie L. Burr, 95, a longtime resident of Evans City, passed away Saturday while in the comfort of her home.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1917, in Muddy Creek Township, and was the daughter of the late Hayes and Eleanor (Gallagher) Bauder.

She was a loyal member of the St. Johns United Church of Christ for over 70 years. She worked in the elementary school cafeteria in Evans City until her retirement at age 75.

Elsie enjoyed fishing and playing bingo and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling and was known for her delicious homemade pies and apple dumplings. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Jim (Prudy) Burr of Portersville; her two daughters, Judy (Tom) Smith of Penn Township and Jeanne (Cliff) Graham of Evans City; her seven grandchildren, Mike (Yvette) Smith, Megan Smith, Melissa Parrotto, Angie (Michael) Folino, John C. Burr, Kate Graham and Dan Graham, and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Burr, who passed away on Feb. 22, 1983; four brothers, and five sisters.

BURR — The family of Elsie L. Burr, who passed away Saturday, April 27, 3013, will welcome friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 116 E. Main St., Evans City.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City, with the Rev. Linda Miller-Pretz officiating. She will be laid to rest privately at the Evans City Cemetery.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her honor in support of St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E.
