Richard Stock

Richard J. Stock, 45, of Meridian died unexpectedly Saturday morning at the Emergency Department of Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 29, 1967, in Butler, and was the son of Christopher B. Stock Jr. and Anna R. (Varrasso) Stock.

Rich graduated from Butler High School, received a bachelor's degree from Grove City College, and also a master's degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He worked as chief draftsman for Herr-Voss Stamco in Callery since 1989.

He was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian. He was the treasurer and a chaperone for the Butler band, was a committee chair for Boy Scout Troop 19 for the past 10 years and was a crew member for Sing Hosanna. Mostly, he enjoyed his children and being involved their activities.

Surviving are his wife, Julie E. (Benson) Stock, who he married May 22, 1993; his four sons, Andrew J. Stock, Adam N. Stock, Benjamin J. Stock and Blake F. Stock, all at home; his parents, Christopher B. Stock Jr. and Anna Stock of Butler; his four siblings, Carol (Bruce) Gallagher of Renfrew, Christopher “Butch” (Linda) Stock of Renfrew, Bernard (Rhonda) Stock of Freedom, Pa., and Jean (Regis) Schnur of Butler; his mother-in-law, Mary Elaine Benson of Meridian; two brothers-in-law, Donald (Dana) Benson of Ellwood City and Joseph (Vicki) Benson of Grenada Hills, Calif.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

STOCK — Friends of Richard J. Stock, who died Saturday, April 27, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian. His Pastor, the Rev. James Murphy, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Parish Cemetery, Butler.The bereavement committee of St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home for a parish vigil service.In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to one of the organizations mentioned that Rich helped and cared for.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
