Ronald Lee Anderson Sr.

Ronald Lee Anderson Sr., 68, of Butler passed away at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday at the VA Butler Healthcare Medical Center.

He was born March 4, 1945, in Butler, to the late Ralph E. Anderson and Irene (McCormick) Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was a member of the Grace @ Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Vietnam as a K-9 security police officer at Da Nang Airbase.

Mr. Anderson worked in the stainless steel department at Armco, retiring in 1995 after 37 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 117.

He enjoyed fishing and traveling and he loved his dogs.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Rouena M. (Hulings) Anderson, who he married on Jan. 8, 1977; one son, Ronald L. Anderson II and his wife, Sharon, of Butler; two daughters, Allison (Anderson) Brumbaugh and her husband, James, of Butler and Julie DuBois and her husband, Erik, of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Mike Rihel of Butler, April Martin of West Sunbury and Angela Anderson of Butler, who he considered as his children, also survive; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, one nephew, and Storm, his German Shepherd.

ANDERSON — Friends of Ronald Lee Anderson Sr., who passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Patricia Nelson of the First United Methodist Church officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
