Bruce A. Wegner
Bruce A. Wegner, 89, of Palmetto, Fla., had his last elevator ride up to heaven Wednesday.
He was born March 21, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wis.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marine, and the youngest chief steward at the time.
He worked as sales supervisor for the Quality Biscuit Co., and was a store manager for Kroger Foods. He ran his own business, Wegner's Beer Liquor and Deli, in New Berlin, Wis., for 15 years before retiring to Palmetto, Fla.
He was involved in various clubs such as the New Berlin Businessman's club, the New Berlin Lions Club, New Berlin Park and Recreation, and the Bradenton, Fla., Lions club. He helped at Pirates Booster Spring Training for 15 years as an elevator operator.
He also was involved in the Merchant Marine, the American Legion, Meals on Wheels and the Southeastern Guide Dog School. He spent his summers at Moraine Camplands in Slippery Rock and winters in Palmetto, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta (Patrizio); his children, Brenda (Mark) of Wisconsin, Bradd (Tammy) of Ohio, Pat (Bobbi) of Pittsburgh, Cindy Coppins (Chip) of Chester Springs, Pa., and Terri (Dave) of Alliquippa, Pa.; his daughter-in-law, Cathy of Texas, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his first wife, Catherine (Prill), and sons, Brent and Brian.
