Mary Rosalyn Marra McConahy
Mary Rosalyn Marra McConahy, 63, of New Castle went home to the Lord Tuesday evening after her seven-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 11, 1950, in Butler and was a daughter of George and Thelma Heichel Marra.
She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Scott McConahy, who she married Dec. 11, 1971.
She was a graduate of Butler High School and St. Francis School of Nursing.
Mary was a registered nurse at Jameson Memorial Hospital for over 30 years, retiring in 2008.
An active member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church, she was a deacon and an elder and sang in the church choir. Mary was a faithful woman who loved the Lord and considered each day a blessing. Her most cherished gift from God was her love for family, and the light of her life, her grandchildren. She loved spending time at the ocean and working outside in her garden.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Steve McCurdy, Shelly and Dan DePaolo and Jill and Mark Trott, all of New Castle; six sisters, Camilla Wilson of Las Vegas, Nev., Judith Spryn, Sandra Magyar and Dwella Mahoney, all of Butler, Patricia Rayl of Raleigh, N.C., and Rita McMasters of New Castle; two brothers, George Marra and John Marra, both of Butler; five grandchildren, Kalie Trott, Ali Rose Trott, Angalina DePaolo, Daniel DePaolo III and Giovanni DePaolo; and four step-grandchildren, Katelynn McCurdy, Steven McCurdy Jr., Robert McCurdy and Alexis McCurdy.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
MCCONAHY — Visitation for Mary Rosalyn Marra McConahy, who passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2434 Wilmington Road, New Castle. The Rev.
