Alfred Cupps

Alfred J. Cupps, 85, of Butler died Tuesday morning at the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit in Butler.

Born Aug, 25, 1927, in Butler, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Rose (McLaughlin) Cupps.

He retired from the Melt Shop at Armco Steel Plant in 1989 after 40 years of service.

He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. He was also a life member of the Elks Fraternal Organization.

He was an avid golfer and gardener.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his two daughters, Amy L. Wagner of Wexford, Pa., and Wendy C. (Dan) Naret of Richmond, Va.; three grandchildren, Matthew H. Naret of Richmond, Va., Emily D. Naret of Richmond, Va., and John M. Wagner of Wexford, Pa.; two sisters, Florence Stickney and Helen McGuirk, both of Virginia; a brother, Francis A. Cupps of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Joan Badger Cupps; two brothers, Regis E. Cupps and Eugene V. Cupps; and a sister, Margaret Cratty.

CUPPS — Friends of Alfred J. Cupps, who died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, will be received at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. His nephew, the Rev. David Cupps, will officiate.
