A nine-run third inning sparked Meridian to a 17-5 victory over Freeport in Butler County legion baseball play Thursday at Pullman Park.

Jake Campbell doubled, scored four runs and drove in three in the win, while Travis Edinger singled three times, scored twice and had one RBI.

Also breaking out on offense for Meridian (13-2) was Jake Koerner with a pair of base hits, three runs and one RBI. Matt Dowdy contributed a single, triple and two runs batted in.
