Burton O. 'Whitey' White
Burton O. “Whitey” White, 83, of Harmony passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, while under the care of the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born Feb. 26, 1930, in Warrendale, he was the son of the late William and Greta (Goldinger) White.
Whitey attended the Zelienople High School. Beginning at age 15, he was employed in the heating and air conditioning business. At one time he owned his own heating and air conditioning businessin Pittsburgh, and later, was a partner for a local heating and air conditioning business.
He was an active member and Elder of the Park Presbyterian Church in Zelienople. Whitey served on the Zelienople Park Board as well as the Zelienople Library Board. He was a past president of the Zelienople Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, a past member of the Harmony Borough Council, a girls’ softball coach and a lifetime member of the Harmony Lodge 429. He also served on the Serenity Park Board and was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, as well as several other local charities.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon (Sankey) White, who he married on Dec. 24, 1945; his four children, Jeanne (Paul) Bosley of Grayson, Ga., Burton Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii, Shelley (Larry) Francis of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Stacy (Walt) Sieminkski of Harmony; his eight grandchildren, Christina Kouzmanoff, Jonathan Bosley, Justin, Dustin and Courtney Francis, and Benjamin, Blake and Brianna Sieminkski; his two great-grandsons, Benjamin and Ian Kouzmanoff; his two brothers, Dale (Lynnann) White of Florida and Fred (Carol) White of Harmony, and his sister-in-law, Mildred White of Curtisville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry “Pinky” White.
WHITE — A celebration of life memorial service for Burton O. “Whitey” White, who passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. Paul Merrill officiating.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E.
