CORAOPOLIS — Numerous local students from Kim's Martial Arts in Cranberry Township earned medals at the recent Junior National Judo Championships hosted by Robert Morris University.

Winning gold medals were Tyler Kim, John Rocco Kazalas, Preston Nguyen, Isabella Pucci, Alivea Bupp, Dante DePalma and Noah Mason.

Silver medalists included Salvatore Desimone, Lexi Wilkinson and Jack Kazalas. Bronze medalists were Tyler Ruggiero and Joey Koromaus.

More than 500 Judo kids ages 6-20 from all over the world competed in the event.

GROVE CITY — Grove City College will induct three men into its Men's Soccer Hall of Fame during homecoming weekend Oct. 5.Harvey Miller (Class of 1940) played on GCC's first two varsity men's soccer teams in 1938-39. He became a Trustee of the College in 1963.Tom Fleming (1975) earned three letters, co-captained the 1974 squad, was first team all-conference and the team's MVP.Matthew Towle (1993) started four seasons at goalie, posted a 1.05 goals-against average and was first team all-conference three times. He was team MVP in 1992.

BAKERSTOWN — Marissa Sudar of Center Township earned first place in the girls 16-18 division of the Kings Restaurants Junior Golf Tournament on Thursday at Pittsburgh North Golf Course.Sudar shot an 85, seven strokes ahead of her closest competitor.Alexandra Bozich of Center Township fired an 81, but was edged in a playoff and settled for second place in the girls 14-15 division.
