Pastor Kenneth Charles Hall
Pastor Kenneth Charles Hall, 88, of Butler entered into the loving arms of his Lord at 10 p.m. Sunday at Allegheny General Hospital.
Born Nov. 10, 1924, in Jamestown, N.Y., he was the son of the late Harry A. Hall and Ethel Rose (Lawson) Hall.
Pastor Hall graduated from Jamestown High School in 1942. He attended Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y.
His college days were interrupted by World War II and he found himself serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific. He was a true Marine, loving and serving his country. A proud Marine, he never stopped telling his stories.
After the war, he went back to Jamestown, where he met Joyce at church and they were married Sept. 7, 1947, and they had been married 65 years.
Pastor Hall had a four-year apprenticeship and was a journeyman tool and die maker for 20 years, when he and Joyce felt the call to the ministry. He attended the school of Theology at Anderson University and continued classes at Roberts Wesleyan College, N.Y.
His long list of churches he pastored included the Peoples Church in Sugargrove, Pa., the Jamestown First Church of God, the Belles Chapel Church of God, Indianapolis, Ind., the Warren, Pa., Church of God, and the North Main Street Church of God, Butler, where he recently retired as the visitation pastor. There he worked with more than 60 ministry, was a Sunday school teacher and started the Wings and Theos Groups and also the Alcoholics Anonymous groups that met at the church. He was also on the credential committee of Western Pennsylvania. He went on four mission trips, three to Guatemala and one to Manila, Philippines, preaching, teaching and building churches.
Pastor Hall is survived by his wife, Joyce Mae Hall of Butler; one son, Dr. Gregory V. Hall and his wife, Patricia, of Lake Wales, Fla.; two daughters, Wendy Hall Fidler and her husband, John, of Springfield, Ill. and Kris Anne Byers and her husband, Richard, of Butler; six grandchildren, Trevor Hall, Courtney Cook, Joseph and Christopher Fidler and Christian and Camryn Byers; four sisters, Phyllis Paddock, Joyce Anderson, Jean Anderson and Carol Phillips, all of Jamestown, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Pastor Hall was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Hall; two nieces; and two nephews.
HALL — Friends of Pastor Kenneth Charles Hall, who passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013, will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the North Main Street Church Of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., Butler, with his son, Dr. Gregory V. Hall and his sons-in-law, John Fidler and Richard Byers and the Rev.
