Robert J. 'Bob' Dempsey
Robert J. “Bob” Dempsey, 74, of Butler entered into the loving arms of our Lord at 10:05 p.m. Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born Oct. 9, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wis., to the late Albert Dempsey and Lucille (Jenson) Moss.
Mr. Dempsey graduated from Nathan Hale High School, then went on to earn his degree in engineering at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis. He enjoyed his work as a design engineer in the steel industry.
Mr. Dempsey was one of the designers of “Continuous, Continuous Casting” a process that can manufacture a sheet of steel up to 3 miles in length, and author of the “spec books.” As an engineer for Allis-Chalmers, Voest-Alpine, CHL, and owner/CEO of RJD Consulting, LLC, he built or upgraded steel mills in the United States, Canada, South Korea, China and Central and South America.
Mr. Dempsey had been an active member of several churches. Known as an avid boater, he also enjoyed camping, dancing, music, but mostly friends and family time.
Mr. Dempsey is survived by his wife, Marlyn Petri Dempsey, who he married Oct. 17, 1958; three daughters, Dawn Lawrence of Butler, Sharon (Mario) Lopes of Butler and JoEllen (Keith) Alberts of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Roxanne Rubash, Jonathan and Chelsea Lopes, Michael, Jessica and Makala Alberts; four sisters, Margie (Dan) Blair of Maryland, Leanne (Randy) Kennedy of Maryland, Judy Biersach of Wisconsin and Linda Hollowell of Wisconsin; his stepmother, Evelyn Dempsey of Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William “Bill” Moss, and his stepfather, W.J. Moss.
DEMPSEY — Funeral services with fellowship for Robert J. “Bob” Dempsey, who passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First English Lutheran Church, 241 N.
