LOS ANGELES — The Beard is back in baseball.

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent reliever Brian Wilson to a one-year contract.

He hasn't pitched in the major leagues since April 12, 2012, the same month he had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.

Wilson was one of the majors' top relievers from 2008-11 with the San Francisco Giants. He was a three-time All-Star and led the big leagues with 163 saves in 186 chances.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde was suspended Tuesday for at least three games and will be required to meet additional obligations before he plays again for the Buckeyes.Hyde had been suspended indefinitely after he was named a person of interest in an investigation into an alleged assault of a woman at a downtown Columbus bar. But police said earlier Tuesday that the case had been dropped.
