Carol S. Smith

Carol S. Smith, 66, of Franklin, Oakland Township, Venango County, passed away at her home at 9 p.m. Wednesday following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on July 20, 1947, in Mars, Carol was the daughter of Joseph and Eleanor Peaco Shak.

She married Delbert E. Smith on Aug. 24, 1968.

Carol was retired from J.C. Penney, where she worked as a retail clerk for more than 20 years.

Carol was a faithful member of the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren in Christ Church in Franklin.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling, scrapbooking and shopping. She especially enjoyed attending the many sporting events of her grandchildren, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Carol is survived by her mother, Eleanor Shak; her husband, Delbert Smith; and her daughters, Michele Mansfield and her fiance, Michael Hanna, of Polk, Deena M. Smith of Oil City, and Melissa Rodemoyer and her husband, Michael, of Cooperstown. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Joseph Shak of Mars, Roy Shak of Cranberry Township, Donna Gibson of Canton, Ohio, and Vicki Shak of Mars. Additionally, Carol is survived by her six grandchildren, Zachariah Beers, Rilee Hanna, Alexander Holmes, Dylan Rodemoyer, Lauren Rodemoyer and Alexis Rodemoyer.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Shak; her sister, Mary Dash; her niece, Letita Dash; her nephew, Burton Stewart; and several other close members of her family.

SMITH — Friends and family of Carol S. Smith, who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin, from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren in Christ Church, with Pastor Brad Riddle officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery.The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Kirtland Foundation, P.O.
