Floyd E. 'Sugarbear' Wehr
Floyd E. “Sugarbear” Wehr, 78, of Evans City passed away peacefully Saturday while surrounded by his family at VNA Hospice in Butler.
Born on May 28, 1935, in Jackson Township, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Milia V. (Knauf) Wehr.
A Protestant by faith, Floyd was a 1954 graduate of Evans City High School where he played football.
He retired from Harmony Castings in 1989 as a purchaser, after which he worked at Strawberry Ridge Golf Course and Marburger Dairy part-time.
Floyd was a former member of both the Harmony-Zelienople Kiwanis Club and the Harmony Moose Lodge. In addition, he loved woodworking and crafting outdoor furniture, gardening, square dancing and vacationing with friends in Amish country. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, and most of all, he enjoyed relaxing with his pipe. Above all, he was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather, who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 57 years, Beryl (Kaltenbach) Wehr, who he married on Dec. 11, 1955; his six children, Richard (Terry) Wehr of Zelienople, Roger (Sharon) Wehr of Evans City, Robert (Beth) Wehr of Evans City, Sherri (Dennis) Eckstein of Evans City, Sherrill Kline of Mars and Sharron Wehr of Pittsburgh; his three grandchildren, Michael, Steffanie and Nickolas Kline; his great-grandson, Connor Racette; his three step-grandchildren, Jeffrey (Lisa) Stewart and family, Jason (Dianna) Stewart and family and Jessica Stewart; his sister, Edna Uhler of North Carolina; his sister-in-law, Helen Wehr of Zelienople, and numerous relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph; his son-in-law, “Chip;” his brother-in-law, Edward, and his grandson, Simon.
WEHR — The family of Floyd E. “Sugarbear” Wehr, who passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. John K. Jefferis officiating.
