Connor Shay Flinn
Connor Shay Flinn, 12, of Slippery Rock peacefully passed into the gates of Heaven on Monday surrounded by his family and friends at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
He was born 16 weeks premature on March 9, 2001.
Connor was a special needs student at Hartman Elementary in Ellwood City, where he truly loved going to school. He enjoyed listening to music, especially his dad's guitar, which he loved to sing along to “Connor-style.” He was most happy spending time with his mom at home. She was his rock and foundation, and he was hers. Although he was only 12, Connor gave us comfort and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life.
Connor is survived by his loving parents, Charlie and Tina Flinn; grandparents, Charles and Heidi Flinn and Russell and Shirley Shay, all of Slippery Rock. He also is survived by his aunts and uncles, Ted and Tammy Glasgow, Russ and Tarri Shay, Chet and Anita Cyga and Brian Flinn; and his cousins, Shannon Glasgow Snow, Gus and Teresa Glasgow, Lauren Shay, Blake Whittenberger and Easton Snow. Connor was particularly attached to his special caregivers Nicole Claypoole, Lisa Delavern and Jessica Blumling; his longtime teacher and “Buddy,”Bill Skalski, and classroom nurse, Marilyn Hilyard.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sally Gardner Shay, and his uncle, Laurence Shay.
