John Ostovich, 86, of Harmony passed away Aug. 26 at Ellwood City Hospital.

Born on June 3, 1927, in Zelienople, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Florence Ostovich.

John proudly joined the U.S. Navy at age 16 and served from 1943 until 1946. During his time of service, he achieved the rank of petty officer third class.

He was an avid hunter, trapper, woodworker, gardener and craftsman, and he enjoyed being a member of the VFW.

He is survived by his sons, Michael, David (Terri) and Thomas Ostovich, and his grandchildren, Ashley and Vanessa, all of California.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan E. Ostovich, who passed away in 2007.
