BAKERSTOWN — The First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, Route 8 at Heckert Road, is giving a concert featuring the music ministries of the church at 7 p.m. Sunday in the church sanctuary.Angels in Wings, Bakerstown Bells, the Butler Tabernacle Singers, Joyful Noise, the Chancel Choir, the Bakerstown Ensemble, Richard Anthony and Mia Tepper will perform.A reception with cookies and cider will follow in the fellowship hall. The Holy Hour for Peace will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Church, 128 N. McKean St. There will be prayers for peace, vocations, the rosary, Novena Prayers of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and benediction.The Divine Mercy Holy Hour will be 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at St. Paul.There will be Divine Mercy Chaplet, special prayers for family healing and benediction.
John Tyler, a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing, will present an interactive talk titled “Discover Your Spiritual Identity” at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Butler Public Library, 218 N. McKean St.Tyler's ideas are based on the Bible, the original source on Christian healing, along with the book “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy.Tyler, a longtime activist for civil rights, has degrees from both Princeton University and the Institut d'Etudes Politiques, Paris, and taught political science at Princeton and the University of Pittsburgh before becoming a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing.
EMLENTON, Venango County — Shelton Bissell, a gospel musician from Goodletsville, Tenn., will be featured at an old-time gospel music weekend beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Crawford Center, 511 Hill St.Bissell brings a unique sound to old time gospel music with his saxophone accompaniments.
