The Rev. James A. Trusel

The Rev. James A. Trusel, 86, of South Beaver Township passed away peacefully Wednesday.

He was born on July 11, 1927, in New Castle, Pa., a son of the late Harry and Elsie (Ramsey) Trusel.

The Rev. Trusel served many congregations in his career. He was pastor of the St. Johns United Methodist Church and the West Liberty United Methodist Church from 1962 to 1980; the Bridgewater United Methodist Church from 1980 to 1997, and was an associate pastor from 1997 to the present at the Faith Community United Methodist Church in Rochester. Most recently he was an associate pastor with the First Congregational Church in Beaver Falls.

The Rev. Trusel also retired from the Beaver County Children and Youth Services in 1992 and was the co-founder of the Carpenter Corner Christian Book Store in Beaver.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Patricia (Sadler) Trusel, and his sister, Polly Cross.

He is survived by his four sons, J. Bradley and his wife, Linda Trusel, of Grove City, David and his wife, Betsy Trusel, of Jamestown, N.Y., Barry Trusel of Butler and R. Kelly and his wife, Theresa Trusel, of Oil City; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Elsie (Lloyd) Kerr of New Castle and Robert Trusel of New Wilmington.

TRUSEL — Friends of The Rev. James A. Trusel, who passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, will be received from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Huntsman Funeral Home, 502 Adams St., Rochester, Pa. Friends will also be received from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at the Faith Community United Methodist Church, Jefferson Street, Rochester, with the Rev. Dr. Pat Albright officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 3500 Brooktree Road, Suite 320, Wexford, PA 15090.
