John C. 'Jack' Renfrew

John Renfrew

John C. “Jack” Renfrew, 85, of Valencia died Monday morning at the Valencia Woods Nursing Center.

Born in Butler on Dec. 14, 1927, he was the son of the late D. Isabel Smith Renfrew.

Jack retired after 37 years at U.S. Steel/American Bridge in Ambridge, where he was a milling machine and planer operator.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

A lifelong Valencia resident, he enjoyed gardening and farming.

Surviving are his two sons, Kenneth and Robert Renfrew of Valencia, and four grandchildren, Laura, Sarah, Bob and Ethan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Brys Renfrew, who he married on Oct. 15, 1955, and who died on Nov. 24, 2010; his son, Douglas Renfrew; and his sister, Marjorie McCandless.

RENFREW — The friends of John C. “Jack” Renfrew, who died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Services will follow at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Gascoine, pastor of the Christ Community United Methodist Church in Butler, officiating.
