PROSPECT COUNCIL
QUESTION: Why are you running for election?
ROBINSON: To take advantage of council’s successful efforts of the last three years of rate negotiations and the lifting of a sewage tap moratorium that was imposed on Prospect borough.
GITZEN: I am running for re-election to continue to make a difference in my hometown, and to make peoples lives just a little bit better.
MARCINIAK: I feel I have a lot to offer. I have experience as a councilman and am a retired manager of Giant Eagle. I have helped improve communication between council and the residents through “The Prospector,” a newsletter that I started. I am currently trying to get a Butler County Community Block Grant that will benefit many of the residents by improving sidewalks, handicap ramps and a sewer camera. I have successfully received a grant from Butler County Parks to purchase new picnic tables and grills for the community pavilion. I have also been part of the lifting of the sewer moratorium in Prospect.

QUESTION: What are your top three priorities if you win election?
ROBINSON: 1. To continue the restoration and upgrade of the Prospect sewage system;
2. To continue to make sewage taps available in order to spur controlled growth in the community;
3. To minimize sewage rates now and in the future for Prospect rate payers.
GITZEN: My top three priorities will be to curb spending, rehabilitate public services (sidewalks and other infrastructure), and encourage economic growth in the community.
MARCINIAK: If I am elected for another term my top three priorities are to hold the line on taxes by utilizing our current services in a more productive manner, to conduct quarterly town hall meetings so the residents can have more of a voice in council’s decision making, and to improve the quality of life by forming a regional joint sewer and water authority which will increase property values and take the burden of paying for sewer repairs and treatment costs from the borough.

QUESTION: What part should local government play in overseeing natural gas drilling activity in your municipality, including how impact fee money should be spent?
ROBINSON: Prospect Council should develop ordinances to protect the public without discouraging drilling in order to use financial benefits for the community. Monies should be put back into communities, such as the library and other community facilities.
GITZEN: I feel local government should monitor natural gas drilling activity by ensuring the existing infrastructures, community businesses/residents, and their community resources are all protected, while at the same time not to hinder the economic prosperity that these communities desperately need.
MARCINIAK: In my opinion local government should oversee natural gas drilling activity by enacting and enforcing laws that will protect the residents, property and water. The impact fee money should be spent on community improvements. The gas drilling companies should be made to hire local residents first.
Prospect Borough is a nice place to live and raise and a family. If elected I will do everything in my power to continue and enhance the quality of life in Prospect.
