SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock High School football team will receive a first-round bye in the District 10 Class AAA playoffs.

The Rockets (9-0, 5-0 Region 5) will wrap up the regular season on Friday against DuBois at home. Following the bye week, Slippery Rock will play the winner of General McLane and Warren at Slippery Rock University.

GROVE CITY — The Grove City High School football team will play Northwestern in the District 10 Class AA quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.

FRANKLIN — Slippery Rock High School boys soccer and Grove City High School girls soccer have made the District 10 playoffs and both will play today at Franklin High School.The Rockets (10-4-4) square off with Hickory (12-4-2) at 7 p.m. in the District 10 Class AA quarterfinals. The winner will play Harbor Creek (18-0) on Wednesday at a time and place to be determined.Girls soccer will precede the contest, as Grove City (13-3-1) looks to stay alive against Fort LoBoeuf (14-3-1) at 5 p.m. The winner will face Mercyhurst Prep (10-7-1) in the District 10 Class AA semifinals.

GROVE CITY — Grove City (13-3) and Corry (11-1) will meet in the District 10 Class AA girls volleyball quarterfinals on Tuesday at Seneca High School starting at 6 p.m.If the Eagles advance, the winner of Fort LeBoeuf-Hickory will await in the semifinals on Thursday at Seneca High School at 8 p.m.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University junior running back Teddy Blakeman was named PSAC West Offensive Player of the Week Sunday.Blakeman rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries during The Rock's 44-20 victory at Edinboro.

NEW YORK — Baylor climbed to No. 5 in AP's college football poll, the best ranking for the Bears in 60 years.The top four teams all put on impressive displays Saturday.No. 1 Alabama received 55 first-place votes after beating Tennessee. No. 2 Oregon got three first-place votes following a victory against UCLA. No. 3 Florida State pounded North Carolina State and drew two first-place votes.

SAN ANTONIO — Kenny Perry made a 10-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a playoff with Bernhard Langer to win the Champions Tour’s AT&T Championship.
