Alice Joann Zubal
Alice Joann Zubal, 81, of Allegheny Township went to be with her Lord on Wednesday while in the company of family members at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Joann was born on Sept. 25, 1932, in Freeport. She was the daughter of the late Jane M. (Lear) and Allen Ray Clark.
She was the widow of Frank J. Zubal, who passed in 2009.
She was an active member of the Allegheny Presbyterian Church in Allegheny Township.
She was employed as an operator supervisor at the former Freeport Telephone Company/North Pittsburgh Telephone for more than 30 years, retiring in 1983.
Joann enjoyed her monthly visits with the Freeport Class of 50 classmates. She enjoyed going on the day bus trips with her friend, Evelyn. Joann was very involved with Operation Christmas Child, which was a shoe box Christmas present for children in need through the Samaritan’s Purse organization. She was always active with her church making dinners for all the different events. She enjoyed sending cards to family and friends and loved being with her family and playing board games with her grand and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Ann (John) Woitas of Jefferson Township; her son, Frank R. (Cora) Zubal of Allegheny Township; her grandchildren, Shelly (John) Swartz and Kelly (Shawn) Campman and Heather and Heidi Zubal; her great-grandchildren, Shawna, Shannon and Sharyn Sefton, Eva and Ella Grace Campman and Ataliyah Dupree; and her sister, Beatrice (Richard) Freehling of Butler.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold A. “Bud” Clark.
ZUBAL — The family and friends of Alice Joann Zubal, who died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport. The funeral service will be at the Allegheny Presbyterian Church in Allegheny Township at 10 a.m. Saturday with Lay Pastor Lloyd Riggle officiating. The graveside services will be at Greenwood Memorial Park in New Kensington.
