BUTLER TWP — Butler County Community College will have an information session for adult students on Dec. 2.

It will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the admissions office in the Student Success Center on the main campus.

The event is for adult students beginning their schooling, returning to school or changing careers.

Information about BC3 will be presented followed by the opportunity for one-on-one academic advising with an admissions representative.

Adult students can get information on academic programs and support services for their specific needs.

Call the admissions office at 724-284-8501 to reserve a space as seats are limited.

BUTLER TWP — Butler County Community College's art and literary magazine, FACETS, was awarded first place with special merit and best community college literary and art magazine for 2013 by the American Scholastic Press Association.The association awards recognize outstanding content and design.The purpose of FACETS is to showcase the talent of BC3 students, faculty, staff and alumni with their prose, poetry, essays, artwork and photography.Deadline nears for city school taxesThe last day to pay Butler School District taxes at face value in person is Dec. 2, according to city treasurer Jeff Smith.Residents paying by mail must have the envelope postmarked by Nov. 30.Payments can be made at the city building at 140 W. North St.Taxes paid after the due dates will be at the penalty amount.

BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Community College Education Foundation has received a $10,000 gift from Brayman Construction of Freeport to support innovative educational initiatives.The gift, made through the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit, will assist students who want to earn college credits while in high school and provide economic education programs.In recent weeks, the foundation also has received $20,000 from Northwest Savings Bank, $15,000 from NexTier Bank and $5,000 from the First National Bank of Pennsylvania.
