John Frederick Kastler

John Frederick Kastler, 72, of Amherst, Ohio, passed away Sunday at New Life Hospice in Lorain, Ohio.

He was born on July 1, 1941, in Braddock, Pa., the son of the late Earl and Elizabeth (Miller) Kastler.

John was raised in Turtle Creek, Pa.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.

He retired in 1998 in management in the educational division of the Marriott Corp.

John enjoyed fishing, boating and traveling.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Kay (George) Kastler; his son, John F. (Sherri) Kastler II of Bedford, Texas; his grandchildren, Mallory E. Kastler of Bedford, Texas, and Corey R. (Vanessa) Kastler of Grapevine, Texas; his three great-grandchildren, Mason, Caleb and Ryan Kastler, all of Grapevine, Texas; and his sister, Pearl Heeps Flick and her husband, Charles, of Huntley, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his niece, Michelle Heeps, and his three brothers-in-law, Edward Heeps, Donald Crawford and Robert George.

Kastler — The friends of John Frederick Kastler, who passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday and from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Saturday. Interment in the Mt.
