Marilyn McCarren

Marilyn E. McCarren, 78, of Butler died at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born on July 29, 1935, the daughter of Jesse and Minnie (Chambers) Duffy, who preceded her in death.

She married Charles R. McCarren Jr. in 1974; he died in February of 2013. She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

She is survived by her stepchildren, Charles McCarren III, Michael McCarren, Patricia Stein, Mary Turnbell and Millicent Stawinski, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Sarah Joan (Mike) Bish of Pinehurst, N.C., and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two stepchildren, David McCarren and Frederick McCarren; her two sisters, Catherine L. Shelton and Patricia A. Norton, and her two brothers, Jesse E. Duffy and Robert G. Duffy.

McCarren — The friends of Marilyn E. McCarren, who died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.
