Warren L. 'Sam' Troutman

Warren L. “Sam” Troutman, 81, of Freeport passed away Wednesday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, with his family at his side.

He was born on Nov. 2, 1932, in Kittanning to the late Mervin Harvey and Olive Belle (Farster) Troutman and was a life-long resident of the Freeport area.

Sam was a life insurance salesman and insurance broker for MetLife, Delmont, from May 12, 1958 until his retirement in 1995. After retirement, Sam diligently continued to serve his clients until November of 2011. He always prided himself on his abilities and enjoyment of meeting people and assisting them through his occupation.

Mr. Troutman was a member of the Summit United Presbyterian Church, Jefferson Township and the Freeport Eagles, where he was proud to have just obtained his lifetime membership. He was also a member of the Armstrong County Sports Hall of Fame, of which he was a very active member and board member, and the Life Underwriters Association, he attended seven president's conferences and 39 Leaders Conferences throughout his career.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, snowmobiling and spending time at his camp in Marienville. His true avocation was spending time with family, his grandchildren and his great-granddaughters.

Sam is survived by his son, Michael W. (Sandra J.) Troutman of Cabot; his daughter, Mary Kim Slimick at home; his companion of five years, Patricia “Patty” Myers of Ford City; his granddaughter, Erica B. (Felipe) Garcia-Huidobro; his two grandsons, Philip W. (Evie L.) and Bradley M. (Kariane N.) Troutman; his three great-granddaughters, Emili King, Maia Garcia-Huidobro, and Avery Ann Troutman, and Sam's beloved dog, Mika.

In addition to his parents mentioned above, Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Sally A. (Muffley) Troutman on Oct. 24, 2007; his three brothers, Harold, Raymond, Vernon Troutman, and his two sisters, Mabel Allen and Genieveve Barker.

TROUTMAN — The family and friends of Warren L. “Sam” Troutman, who passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral ceremonies at 11 a.m. Monday at the Summit United Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive, corner of Saxonburg Road and Caldwell Drive, Jefferson Township. Pastor Tom R. Jones and Pastor Paul Roberts will co-officiate ceremonies. A private burial will follow in the Freeport Cemetery, Freeport.Memorial contributions may be made to the Sally and Sam Troutman Scholarship Fund, c/o Summit United Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive, Butler, PA 16002.
